Leaf floating downward
Through sunlight’s shim’ring fishnet
Summer swim outdoors.

Dancing in my brain
“Music alone shall live” brings
Mem’ries of Scout camp.
(My cousin Phyllis mentioned this song in a recent e-mail. Now I can’t get it out of my head. It is one of many rounds we sang at Girl Scout camp.)
She’s at it again
Syllables five-seven-five
Haiku’s addictive!
Summer’s long twilight
Sunset sky to silver dusk
Sense of endless time.
Tee-shirts and shorts time
All too brief here where we live
Not to be wasted!
Urgency of warmth
Its time is short, followed by
Cold, wind and moisture.
Tully’s is closing
Landlord’s hollow victory
When businesses leave.
Late summer breeze
Brush my bare arms while you can
Our time here is short.
